West Beirut (À l'abri les enfants) was directed by Ziad Doueiri in 1998. Where Do We Go Now? (Et maintenant, on va où?) was directed by Nadine Labaki in 2011. Both movies deal with the Lebanese civil war and religious tensions between Christians and Muslims. Both movies received international acclaim, and performed equally well in the local market.
